Cats at the University of Virginia (UVA) need your help.
UVA is one of four schools whose training program for future pediatricians involves living animals. Future pediatricians repeatedly force plastic tubes down tiny throats. In the case of one cat, Fiddle, this procedure was repeated more than 22 times in one day!
While it is critical that future pediatricians learn to safely insert a breathing tube into an infant’s throat, 98 percent of training programs in the United States use simulators that accurately resemble human infants. This allows the training to be performed multiple times until the physician gets it right, and doesn’t harm a single cat!
Join Me In Asking Starbucks To Continue To Offer Free Soy Milk!
The ‘My Starbucks Rewards’ Program at Starbucks has offered free soy milk since May of 2008. Starbucks currently stated in a recent newsletter that they will NO LONGER offer free soy milk as a part of their program starting October 16th.
Consumers are increasingly demanding soy milk as another alternative for cow’s milk due to a number of reasons such as health benefits, taste factors, environmental impact of producing cow’s milk, being vegan or lactose-intolerant, etc just to name a few.
All current Starbucks in the United States offer soy milk, in addition to 3 kinds of FREE cow’s milk: whole, 2% and fat free. All three cow’s milks are offered as a free cream at Starbucks locations, however, soy is not offered as a free milk for your beverage. You always have to stop a working barista and ask, “can I have a splash of soy please?” This slows down productivity for their workers.
A growing number of regular Starbucks costumers have signed up for the ‘My Starbucks Rewards’ Program stating that their main reason to originally singing up for the program was because of the free soy milk benefit.
Please join me is asking Starbucks to please CONTINUE to offer free soy milk to customers who are members of their ‘My Starbucks Rewards’ Program. I am also asking Starbucks to make available to all costumers Soy Milk as a FREE MILK offered for cream, in addition to their current free milks that are cow derived: Whole, 2% and Fat Free.
